Walking towards Excellence.
Each human being is different and we all shall BE GRATEFUL for that. When a new baby is born nobody knows what he or she will become and that is not important at that time, because the baby is really getting the attention and recognitions for his/her "uniqueness". Every one in the family or friends is looking at the person, admiring the beauty and the graciousness of her. Sometimes, even on that special moment, we can count on comments in reference to the resemblance to the parents and siblings.
Naturally, as soon as that child start receiving the message from his her environment, and start learning, he will be able to respond and show something more important than just his/her appearance. At the same time the attention and recognition that they receive will start changing their focus, since that is a frequently used way to influence performance, and it is a way to show children a way to go.
After few years, that same child has become a young adult, and we are able to appreciate his/her own personality and character. He or she is still a very unique individual, in many ways vulnerable, but with the ability to dissern whats best from their surroundings.
Looking Back....
If we, as adults, were able to go back and look for details through our own history, we would find that we all did our best in dealing with the demands and offers of that particular time, and many of us opened many doors, or jump over the ponds that were proper of our culture, time and environment, but not before bumping our heads for trying different ways.
Please be aware, that I am calling "ponds" the frequent traps of our time, environment, situations, beliefs or culture. These norms in our environment, we feel so comfortable with, are the ones we so often fail to review or analyze, which in turn make us fall into a repetitive set of poor, unproductive or destructive behaviors.
We might also consider History as a great source of references on how society affect the development of the human being, and I would say, for instance its important to find out, how many people have been able to rise up from their circunstances and embrace upstanding behaviors and decisions that have created great inventions, innovations & change. Visions that were worthy to stand up for in benefit of something bigger than themselves.
Vision...is a word that describe one sense of the human being,or the sense of sight, but the VISION to create changes in our life, our environment and our society goes beyond our physical capacity. Only those that have believed without having all the explanations, all the certifications, all the approval or everything in control, were the ones that have being able to CO CREATE with God all the good things we can see, have and enjoy in our days. They were aware, understanding, and accepting God's word, as expressed in Hebrews 11:3. Even unconsciously, this has been the substantial power that drives people, even without knowing the bible and God's promises.
On the other hand we have the sample of those whose VISION embrace disorder, destruction, poverty and misery (for others, not for themselves). For example, we can see what has being happening in my home country, Venezuela, since Chavez entered the presidency 12 years ago; look what happened in Cuba after Fidel Castro became president (I can go on and on, but this is not the subject on this article).
Its obvious, Excellence is not the vision of every leader, or is not in the mission of everyone, but it is a concept to consider worthy in our life.
We could ask ourselves, if we understand the teaching aspects from the message of Jesus or Nelson Mandela or any of the messengers that challenge our thoughts and actions, to help us move forward to something better, worthy to be meditated, assumed or accepted. Or if the case is the opposite, and we get into the pond where there is not help to develop something on the right direction, try to be aware of the danger of following and accepting, without taking the risk of rejecting it.
"Excellence" is the constant attitude that help us to go with the best answer, at a time, no matter how much we have to sacrifice.
